Cancun

If you’re heading to Cancun for a romantic time, sit back and relax. We’ve got you covered.

Susnset dinner on a steamboad

Spend a slow sunset over a three-course meal, open bar and views across the Nichupte lagoon. The paddle-wheeled steamer leaves from the Aquaworld marina to voyage past small islands and hotel-lined beaches around Cancun. Prices range from US 90–110 per person.

Beach resort day

If you can’t handle anything more than a beach day, there’s several ways to experience a little bit of luxury.

Coco Bongo Cancun

Join hundreds of partyers among performances from acrobats, live bands, conga lines, ballongs, confetti and foam parties. It’s not your traditional club with a central dancefloor, but there’s plenty of stage antics and music to entertain. Entry starts at US65 online (and higher on the door) but includes unlimited local drinks from 10.30pm–3.30am; lines can get long on weekends and in higher season.

Island getaway

For a really intimate time, forget Cancun and disconnect on one of the nearby islands for the weekend, where you can choose from beach time with a touch of adventure on the side. Holbox is the sand-streets, eco-vibe island, with plenty of nature trips and a resident flamingoes to see. Similar to holbox, Isla mujeres is car-free, with just a bit more development and up-scale facilities than Holbox, but better beaches as it’s in the Caribbean and not the gulf. Cozumel is a mix of divers, cruise ship visitors and virgin wilderness, so you can expect a bit of everything but won’t be disappointed no matter what reason attracted you there.
